Vision, mission, oversight, governance bodies and management of the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d’Ivoire.

To play a leading role in the sustainable transformation of societies through the production and dissemination of knowledge and the strengthening of individual and institutional capacities.

Oversight

The Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d’Ivoire (CSRS) is jointly supervised by the ministries responsible for scientific research in Côte d’Ivoire and Switzerland, which are co-signatories to a scientific-cooperation agreement between the two countries.

  • In Switzerland, oversight is provided by the “Leading House” designated by the State Secretariat for Education and Research, namely the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute in Basel, directed by Prof. Jürg Utzinger.
  • In Côte d’Ivoire, oversight is provided by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the administrative body of CSRS and meets twice a year. Its first session reviews the technical report and budget for the previous year and adopts the budget for the current year. Its second session reviews the financial report and audit reports.

General Directorate

The General Directorate reports to the Board of Directors in the revised August 2026 institutional organization chart.

Director General

The Director General is appointed by the Board of Directors with the approval of the Founders’ Council. The Director General serves a renewable three-year term, and the Board may appoint Deputy Directors.

Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee is one of the scientific governance bodies shown in the new CSRS organization chart.

Scientific Council

Members of the Scientific Council — January 2023

The Scientific Council is an advisory body to the Director General and the Board of Directors. It is composed of scientific figures representing the research areas of CSRS and meets twice a year in ordinary session. It includes an institutional ethics committee that safeguards the quality of projects submitted at national level.
